Hi. Are you from Germany?
Yes, I’m born in Germany and also live here. Where are you from?
Oh I see. I saw in my stat. There are 3 views from Germany – that could be you. I’m from the Philippines. I’m a fan of German Expressionism. Often times it’s part of my master research. You could be lucky you saw their artworks.
Oh, yes. Actually it is quite easy to see Art, especially German Expressionism, when you are in Germany. Even smaller cities have museums with at least a few paintings of this period. And because I made it to my habit to go to the museum every time I visit a city I have seen quite a lot, I guess. Unfortunately, many Germans don’t use this opportunities here.
Oh my! I could only see them in Youtube. What I like about German art is it has more focus in illustration (obviously I don’t know how to paint). This weekend, I read about Durer. Finally I got my answer as to where this extremely linear drawings came from.
If it gives you comfort: the expressionists look in books more or less as in reality. Oh, please tell me about Dürer. I don’t know much about him (which is a shame).
Oh. Here. Please watch about Albrecht Durer https://youtu.be/gFhR8xUE5ZU , he harnessed Gutenberg’s printing technology through woodcut printing. He travelled as far as Italy. His style of illustration was further adapted by the German Expressionists although pen and ink already. It goes to the US much like Edward Gorey and TIm Burton. EVen if there’s Adobe Illustrator, Durer’s style is invisible through time, still dominant upto present. Hope this helps.
Thank you for this intersting information. I really had no idea. Now I have to watch this video.
You’re welcome :) I hope you enjoy it. Durer also got amazing paintings you will enjoy. Try to watch the BBC series on Northern Rennaisance. Along with Bosch.
Nice portfolio
Thank you. I try my very best.
